Position: Golf Course Intern
 
Course information: Galloway National Golf Club is a private 18-hole championship golf course. We are located in Galloway, New Jersey about 10 minutes outside of Atlantic City. Architect Tom Fazio, crafted Galloway National’s 7000 yards out of a 200 acres of heavily wooded bayside property. The golf course consists of creeping bentgrass playing surfaces with USGA-spec greens. Galloway National is currently ranked 38^th according to Golf Week's best Modern Courses.

Duties: Involved in all primary aspects of course management as part of the management team:
 
Fertilizer/pesticide calibration, application and record keeping

• Integrated Pest Management strategies
• Turfgrass cultural practices (mowing, grooming, verticutting, topdressing, rolling, aerifying)
• Water management responsibilities (through use of moisture meters)
• Projects (greens renovation, bunker repairs, drainage, irrigation, etc.) 

Compensation:

• $10-12/hour + overtime
• A town house 5 min. off property will be provided

• Golfing privileges
• NJ pesticide applicators license

As an intern you will have the opportunity to interact with the assistants and superintendent on a daily basis. During these interactions you will be encouraged to ask any questions and will become exposed to our decision making process. We look to try to bring out the strengths and improve on any weaknesses in our interns while preparing them for a successful future in the turf industry. We are currently in the process of resurfacing our greens from Pennlinks to A1/A4 bentgrass. We will begin doing multiple green complexes per year and our interns will be involved in all aspects of this project. This project will all be done in-house working closely with Fazio Golf Course Design.  In preperation for this project, in 2014, we built a 25,000 square foot bentgrass nursery on property.  In the fall of 2015 we successfully renovated five greens, with five more scheduled for 2016.
